Gotland Grand National Launches Its Biggest International Investment Ever

Record prize money exceeding 36,000 Euro and 163,000 Euro investment in 12 hours of live national and international TV coverage are set to attract the world’s leading enduro riders to Gotland and the Gotland Grand National.

Following the relocation from the Tofta military training grounds and an investment of nearly 450,000 Euro over the past two years in the new race venue at Hejdeby on Gotland, the focus now shifts to strengthening the sporting side of this legendary event through a major global initiative.

The world’s largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National (GGN), is taking the next step in its international expansion. For the 2026 edition, organiser Nordic Sport & Event is increasing the total prize purse to more than 36,000 Euro, while producing 12 hours of live television coverage for audiences in Sweden and around the world.

The biggest announcement is that the winners of both the men’s and women’s elite races will each receive 9,000 Euro, the highest first-place prize in the history of the Gotland Grand National.

At the same time, the television production will be the most extensive ever undertaken for the event. A total of 12 hours of live broadcasting will be produced over two race days, representing an investment of approximately 163,000 Euro by Nordic Sport & Event.

“Our ambition is to continue developing the Gotland Grand National into the world’s most attractive enduro race. By combining record-breaking prize money with extensive national and international live television coverage, we are creating stronger incentives for the world’s top riders to compete on Gotland while giving the sport significantly greater international exposure,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event.

The increased prize fund forms part of the organiser’s long-term strategy to strengthen the event’s international position and create a race where the world’s elite competes alongside thousands of amateur riders. At the same time, the next generation of riders will have the opportunity to experience the world’s best up close.

An equally important part of the initiative is the commitment to gender equality. Women and men will receive equal prize money, and the organiser has set an ambitious goal of welcoming 300 female riders to the starting line.

“For us, it’s about more than attracting the world’s best riders to Gotland. We also want to inspire the next generation. After completing their own races, young riders should be able to watch the world’s best battle for victory and dream of standing on that podium themselves one day,” says Conny Bohlin.
