CEO Conny Bohlin talks about the investments currently being made in the track.

Hello!

I hope you’re having a fantastic summer, staying active, and finding time to keep up with your training.

The 43rd edition of the Gotland Grand National is just around the corner—and it will be the third edition to take place at our new venue in Hejdeby.

Since the autumn of 2025, our mission has been crystal clear: to make an already great course even better. Together with Sweden’s leading engineering consultancy in land and water management, SWECO, we have analyzed and mapped the entire area, carrying out extensive improvements to the sections that did not meet our standards during GGN 2025.

Today, I can confidently say that we have a significantly stronger and better course ready for GGN 2026.

Let me show you what we’ve done.

We’re Investing in the Future

Over the past three years, Nordic Sport & Event has invested nearly SEK 5 million in the new Gotland Grand National course in Hejdeby. During the summer of 2026, we are investing an additional approximately SEK 500,000 to strengthen the sections of the course that proved too demanding during GGN 2025.

These are not temporary fixes—they are long-term investments designed to make GGN even better for many years to come.

The Powerline Section & The Clear-Cut Area

These two sections are being rebuilt from the ground up. Together with SWECO, we have mapped water flows, elevation levels, and the existing drainage system to create a much more effective water management solution.

The work includes:

– Rebuilding approximately two kilometres of the powerline section with the correct grading and camber.

– Reconstructing the entire clear-cut section behind the Bysarna Speedway track.

– Building nine new drainage crossings using 500 mm culverts.

– Constructing long reinforced crossings over the ditches using large quantities of crushed rock topped with finer surface material.

– Clearing and restoring nearly two kilometres of existing drainage ditches to once again direct water away naturally.

– Applying for approval of alternative course sections, should they be needed to ensure the best possible race conditions.

When we built the new course in Hejdeby, we created something entirely new. After two years of experience—one exceptionally dry and one extremely wet—we now understand the terrain much better and have been able to optimize the course even further.

See You at the Start Line

When we made the decision to move the world’s largest enduro race from Tofta to Hejdeby, we knew it would require major investments, hard work, and patience. Three years later, I can confidently say that we now have a venue that continues to improve with every season.

We have listened to your feedback. We have analyzed, invested, and continued to develop GGN so that you can enjoy the experience you expect from the world’s largest enduro race.

GGN should be tough. GGN should be challenging. But above all, it should be a race that you look forward to returning to year after year.

We are truly looking forward to welcoming you back to Gotland on 22–24 October.

See you at the start line.
