PRESS RELEASE 2023-08-14
LARISSA PAPENMEIR GERMANY RETURNS TO GGN TO WIN!
Larissa’s credentials are top (3) three (3) times WMX (Woman World Championship) (9) nine times German champion, and won (10) ten WC rounds in motocross.
The world’s largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National, which turns 40 years, continues to line up stars on both the women’s and men’s sides ahead of the competition in October on Gotland.
Names such as Steve Holcombe, UK (7) seven-time world champion, and Jane Daniels, UK (3) three-time world champion, are ready for this year’s GGN.
– Larissa Papenmeier, who drives for Yamaha, will return to Gotland and GGN, says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event, who organizes the competition. Larissa came last year in a fine 4th place after leading for half the race, and now she knows the track with the slippery limestone. Larissa will be on the podium this year, believes Conny Bohlin, after seeing her at GGN 2022.
– Larissa greets via Morten Brondbjerg Yamaha Racing that after riding GGN 2022, she will be better prepared than last year when everything was completely new. Larissa says she aims to win the competition but respects the talented Swedish girls who know the GGN track well after all the years on Gotland and respect for Jane Daniels. Larissa also says it’s so fun and promising that the organizer invests as they do in reaching 300 girls at the starting line. She concludes that it is unique in the world with an organizer who highlights the girls in the way they do at GGN and Gotland.
– Having both world champions on the women’s and men’s sides and now Larissa Papenmeier returning to GGN and Gotland feels incredibly exciting. Larissa is a great role model for many young girls, and now the Swedish motorcyclists will see an actual folk festival with international superstars and the big Swedish names in SVT Sport, concludes Conny Bohlin.
The Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money for the best men and women, and for GGN 2023, the best woman and man will take home SEK 75,000 each. The 2:nd get SEK 35,000 and 3:rd SEK 15,000 each.
Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro competition, with over 3000 starters from approx. Seventeen different nations every year. 2023 the competition will be held on 26 – 28 October at the Tofta shooting range on Gotland.
