LARISSA PAPENMEIR OF GERMANY RETURNS TO GGN TO WIN!
Larissa's credentials include (3) three (3) WMX (Women's World Championship) titles, (9) nine German championships, and (10) ten World Cup rounds won in motocross.
The world’s largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, continues to attract top riders from both the women’s and men’s fields ahead of the competition in October on Gotland.
Names such as Steve Holcombe of the UK (7), a seven-time world champion, and Jane Daniels of the UK (3), a three-time world champion, are ready for this year’s GGN.
– Larissa Papenmeier, who drives for Yamaha, will return to Gotland and GGN, says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event, the competition’s organizer. Larissa finished in a strong 4th place last year after leading for half the race, and she is now familiar with the track and its slippery limestone. Conny Bohlin believes Larissa will be on the podium this year, based on what he saw at GGN 2022.
– Larissa says via Morten Brondbjerg Yamaha Racing that after racing in the GGN 2022, she’ll be better prepared than last year, when everything was completely new to her. Larissa says she aims to win the competition but respects the talented Swedish riders who know the GGN track well after all these years on Gotland, and she has great respect for Jane Daniels. Larissa also says it’s so much fun and promising that the organizers are investing as they are to get 300 girls to the starting line. She concludes that it’s unique in the world to have an organizer that showcases the girls the way they do at GGN and on Gotland.
– Having both world champions on the women’s and men’s sides, and nowLarissa Papenmeier returning to GGN and Gotland, is incredibly exciting. Larissa is a great role model for many young girls, and now Swedish motorcycle fans will get to see a true folk festival featuring international superstars and the big Swedish names on SVT Sport, concludes Conny Bohlin.
The Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money for the top male and female finishers, and for the 2023 GGN, the top male and female finishers will each take home 75,000 SEK. The second-place finishers will each receive 35,000 SEK, and the third-place finishers will each receive 15,000 SEK.
The Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro competition, with over 3,000 participants from approximately seventeen different countries each year. In 2023, the competition will be held October 26–28 at the Tofta shooting range on Gotland.
