The starting line on the vast field glistens before the race begins like a mirage of pristine bikes and motorcycles, which are then quickly transformed by the mud and the challenging terrain. The first race took place in 1984, and in 2026 it will mark its 43rd year. With over 3,000 riders from 15 countries, it is an experience unlike any other in the world.

The Gotland Grand National currently has about 700 volunteers who perform various tasks during the setup, execution, and teardown of the venue and the race.
We often get questions from people who want to help out and be a part of this great race. There are a variety of different tasks, ranging from working along the course, serving as traffic marshals and parking attendants, handling check-in, accompanying medical staff on the course, and much more.
