Here we find the Gotland Grand Nationals’ newest rising stars and the future of the event. There are classes for everyone, including the very youngest participants.

The Gold Helmet class features the youngest participants, up to 12 years old. There are 3 different Gold Helmet classes for both boys and girls. All of them race on Friday morning, and the classes are divided based on motorcycle engine displacement.

Friday’s Youth Classes are for slightly older participants, ages 12–16, who are getting ready to turn 15 and compete in the senior fitness class. Here, too, there are different classes depending on the rider’s age and the motorcycle’s engine displacement.

What Does "Guldhjälm" Mean?

The Gold Helmet classes are for participants who turn 12 by the end of the current year. The course for the youngest riders is approximately 3 km long and has its own pit area; all classes have a race time of 45 minutes. At the 45-minute mark, participants are flagged off one by one.

This is not a race, and participants will be admitted to the track in groups of two, 10 seconds apart.

Divided into the following classes:

Class 3 – Motorcycles over 65cc to 85cc (2-stroke) and from 75cc to 150cc (4-stroke)
Class 4 – Motorcycles over 50cc to 65cc (2-stroke)
Class 5 – Motorcycles up to 50cc (2-stroke)

How Are the Youth Classes Run?

The course for the Youth Classes is a loop of approximately 10 km that includes a lap counter, a refueling loop, and the finish line, and is divided into 5 sections. In all classes, the driving time is 2 hours. At the 2-hour mark, the light at the lap counter will turn on, and the driver must then exit the track. The participant may enter the track for one final lap before the clock reaches 1:59:59 and complete that lap.

Divided as follows:

Class 1: Starting the year the rider turns 12.
From 49cc to 85cc 2-stroke and from 75cc to 150cc 4-stroke
Class 2: Starting the year the rider turns 13.
From 100cc to 144cc 2-stroke and 175cc to 250cc 4-stroke

Drivers aged 15–16 can also obtain a junior license, which is also valid for the youth class, to compete in the main recreational class on Saturday.

Frequently Asked Questions

We've changed our motorcycle—do we need to do anything?

If the registered participant has changed motorcycles and this affects the engine displacement, we’ll need to change their class. Please check the supplementary rules to ensure everything is correct, and email us at info@nordicsportevent.se with your reservation number so we can help you change your class.

Do the young people have to make a mandatory pit stop?

No, no one in the youth class is required to make a mandatory pit stop.

How does seeding work?

Only the youth are seeded; we seed 20 in each division based on the previous year’s results. You are seeded according to your overall finish from the previous year, and we match you using your personal identification number. Please note that your seeding does not carry over when you switch to the recreational class.

How many people are allowed in the pit area/refueling zone?

Each participant in the Guldhjälm or Youth Class may bring 2 adults with them into the tank circuit.
