LARISSA PAPENMEIR OF GERMANY RETURNS TO GGN TO WIN!

Larissa's achievements include (3) three (3) WMX (Women's World Championship) titles, (9) nine German championships, and (10) ten World Championship motocross races.

The world's largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National—which is celebrating its 40th anniversary—continues to attract top riders in both the women's and men's divisions ahead of the race in October on Gotland.

Athletes such as Steve Holcombe of Great Britain (7), a seven-time world champion, and Jane Daniels of Great Britain (3), a three-time world champion, have already qualified for this year's GGN.

“It’s now also confirmed that Larissa Papenmeier, who races for Yamaha, will be returning to Gotland and the GGN,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event, which organizes the competition. Larissa finished in a strong 4th place last year after leading for more than half the race, and she’s now familiar with the treacherously slippery limestone track. Conny Bohlin believes Larissa will make it onto the podium this year after seeing her at GGN 2022.

– Larissa says via Morten Brondbjerg Yamaha Racing that now that she has raced the GGN 2022, she’ll be better prepared than last year, when everything was completely new to her. Larissa says herself that she’s coming to win the race but has great respect for the talented Swedish riders who know the GGN course very well after all these years on Gotland, and of course she has great respect for the fact that Jane Daniels will be at the starting line. Larissa also says she thinks it’s so fun and great that the organizers are making such an effort to get 300 women on the starting line. “It’s unique in the world to have an organizer that highlights the women the way they do at GGN and Gotland,” she concludes.

“It’s incredibly exciting to first have secured both the women’s and men’s world champions and now also to have confirmed that Larissa Papenmeier is returning to GGN and Gotland. Larissa is a great role model for many young girls, and now Swedish motorsports fans will get to see a real celebration featuring international superstars alongside the big Swedish names on SVT Sport,” concludes Conny Bohlin.

The Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money for the top male and female finishers; at the 2023 GGN, the top male and female finishers will each take home 75,000 SEK. The runners-up will receive 35,000 SEK each, and third-place finishers will receive 15,000 SEK each.

The Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro race, with over 3,000 participants from about 17 different countries each year. In 2023, the race will take place October 26–28 at the Tofta firing range on Gotland.
