WORLD CHAMPION JANE DANIELS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM IS READY FOR THE GOTLAND GRAND NATIONAL!

Jane Daniels, who has won (3) three world championship titles in 2019, 2020, and 2022 and is currently leading the 2023 World Championship (FIM ENDUROGP) with two rounds remaining, is set to compete in this year’s Gotland Grand National.

That would mean that the 2023 GGN would have both the women’s and men’s world champions on the starting line. A previous press release stated that Steve Holcombe (7), the seven-time world champion, is set to compete in this year’s GGN.  

The world’s largest enduro race—the Gotland Grand National, now in its 40th consecutive year—continues to focus on putting together a strong field of competitors ahead of its 40th-anniversary celebration.

– Now a world-class star on the women’s side is also set to compete in this year’s GGN. Jane Daniels of Great Britain, a factory rider for FANTIC, is coming to Gotland and the GGN in October. She currently leads the World Championship series. “Jane will be competing against the strong Swedish women,” says Conny Bohlin of the organizer Nordic Sport & Event, mentioning last year’s winner Tyra Bäckström, runner-up Hanna Berzelius, and third-place finisher Linnea Åkesson, assuming they will be at the starting line.

– Jane Daniels says through our agent, Gjermund Frostad, that she is very much looking forward to coming to Gotland and this year’s GGN. Jane says herself that she’s coming to win, but she’s aware that the strong Swedish women know the GGN course well and that she’ll have to push hard on the first laps to keep up before she gets a feel for the GGN course.

“As the organizers of the world’s largest enduro competition, our goal is for GGN to become even more established around the world. So it’s only natural that we’re working to bring these world-class stars to Gotland and GGN,” Conny Bohlin adds. “We have 350 children and teenagers aged 5–15 at the starting line, and it’s so great that they get to see their idols live at GGN,” Conny Bohlin concludes.

The Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money for the top male and female finishers; at the 2023 GGN, the top male and female finishers will each take home 75,000 SEK. The runners-up will receive 35,000 SEK each, and third-place finishers will receive 15,000 SEK each.

The Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro race, with over 3,000 participants from about 17 different countries each year. In 2023, the race will take place October 26–28 at the Tofta firing range on Gotland.
