Here we find the absolute fastest and best riders in the sport, all competing against one another. There are approximately 450 participants divided into 5 different classes, who start together and all have the chance to compete for the great honor of being a winner of the Gotland Grand National and take home the grand prize and the prize money.

Competitors in the Elite, Recreational, or Junior divisions all have the chance to compete for prize money, provided they achieve the distinction of placing 1st through 3rd in any of these divisions. Of course, there’s also a large sum of money to be won as the overall winner, and this year we’re increasing the prize pool even further—the total prize money now exceeds 200,000 SEK.

How are the classes conducted?

In all classes, the race time is 3 hours and takes place on a course approximately 25 km long. At the 3-hour mark, the light at the turnaround point will turn on, and the driver must then exit the course. Participants may enter the course for one final lap before the clock reaches 2:59:59 and complete that lap. An exception applies to Class 18-EL: scoring takes place from the start to the turn-off point (approximately 15 km). Participants are responsible for monitoring the lights at the turn-off point, which illuminate for each starting group when it is time to exit the track at the 3-hour mark. The final lap is automatically excluded if the driver begins their final lap after the time has elapsed.

The Track

A circuit of approximately 25 km with a refueling loop, lap counting, and a finish line. For the Electric class, there are 2 battery-swap zones and 1 charging zone.

The courses vary in terms of terrain, width, and course markings. Officials on motorcycles patrol the course and are in radio contact with medical personnel and race officials. If you cross the course markings, you must re-enter the course at the same spot. There are checkpoints along the course that scan your transponder.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is refueling mandatory?

Yes, in the Elite, Rec, and Junior classes, two pit stops are mandatory. It is not necessary to refuel unless needed, but two pit stops are required. There are checkpoints at the entry and exit to verify which cars have been through the refueling loop.

How do I go about starting later?

We seed participants based solely on their results from the previous year. If you did not compete last year, it is important to register as soon as possible in order to secure a spot based on the order of registration instead. If you encounter any issues with the seeding process, please feel free to contact us at any time.

How do I find out my race number?

We'll release the race numbers about 6 weeks before the race and announce them via email and social media. You'll be able to find your race number in the start list published on the website.

Can I add a team license?

You can add teams to your registration at a later time. Just contact us at info@nordicsportevent.se with your reservation number.
