PRESS RELEASE – October 17, 2025
FIVE-TIME WORLD CHAMPION DAVID KNIGHT IS SET TO COMPETE IN THE 2025 GOTLAND GRAND NATIONAL!
Five-time world champion, multiple-time AMA champion, 26-time British champion, and two-time winner of the grueling Erzberger race. Now David Knight is finally ready to take on the world’s largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National, with over 3,000 entrants. The world’s largest enduro race—the Gotland Grand National, now in its 42nd consecutive year—can now boast a total of 18 different nations on the starting line. The organizer, Nordic Sport & Event, is going all out for an international live TV broadcast worldwide, with nearly 7 hours of airtime. And with 18 nations participating, the organizer is now hoping for a large global audience. “It’s incredibly exciting that we’ve now secured David Knight, and with all the other big international names joining the GGN this year, it will be interesting to see how they perform on the 25.2-km course over the course of 3 hours,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event.
David Knight’s Achievements:
– 5-time World Enduro Champion
– 4-time AMA Champion
– 26-time British Enduro Champion
– ISDE Overall Winner
– 2-time Erzberg Winner
– 2-time Red Bull Last Man Standing Winner
– Dakar Rally Finisher
– The only person ever to win every race in a World Enduro Championship season
Finally, I’m very happy to be competing in the Gotland Grand National Cross-Country race after wanting to do so for many years but not being able to due to scheduling conflicts and other issues. I’m really excited to race the new Ducati 450 Desmo MX and put it through its paces. The race looks tough, and conditions in Gotland in October can be anything, so I’m both excited and nervous at the same time. I’ll try to enjoy the race and do the best job possible for everyone.
Tobias Persson, head of Ducati Sweden, is very excited to be at the Gotland Grand National for the first time with the new Ducati Desmo 450MX, and former world champion David Knight is serving as Ducati’s ambassador. The Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro race, attracting over 3,000 participants from about 15 different countries each year. In 202, the race will take place October 23–25 in Hejdeby on Gotland.
