PRESS RELEASE – September 10, 2021
HUSQVARNA BICYCLES IS BECOMING THE MAIN PARTNER OF THE GGN E-BIKE RACE ON GOTLAND.
Earlier this year, we announced the big news for the 2021 Gotland Grand National: we’re adding another race on the island—the E-Bike race! Now we have another piece of news to share: Husqvarna Bicycles Scandinavia is stepping in as the main partner for the E-Bike race.
Anders Sarbäcken, CEO of Husqvarna Bicycles Scandinavia, comments on the partnership.
– This is the debut of E-Bike at GGN—a historic moment! Racing is at the heart of our organization, and serving as the title sponsor for the first E-Bike race at GGN is a great honor for us. E-Bike is incredibly popular in Europe, and we believe that GGN marks the beginning of something entirely new for us as well. E-Bike is a perfect training tool and a great complement to your motorcycle riding—and above all, it’s a lot of fun!
Juha Salminen, a former GGN participant and 13-time enduro world champion, will compete in the men’s E-Bike elite class. Juha is really looking forward to the race.
– During my motorcycle career, I rode a lot, but not on an e-bike. E-bikes have completely opened my eyes to a whole new world—you don’t have to plan your route like you do on a regular bike. You can take your e-bike on roads you can’t access with a motorcycle, and on roads you can’t handle with a regular bike.” Read more about Salminen’s interest in e-bikes: https://www.husqvarna-bicycles.com/en-se/explore/stories/juha-salminen-emtb.html
“We welcome Husqvarna Bicycles to Gotland and the GGN Weekend as the main partner in our new major initiative to further develop the already large-scale GGN Weekend,” says Conny Bohlin of the organizer Nordic Sport & Event. “With 3,000 participants, 10,000 visitors, and the crowd back at the Tofta shooting range, we’re convinced that MTB e-bikes have a bright future ahead of them as a standalone competition held in conjunction with the world’s largest enduro race,” continues Conny Bohlin.
Throughout the GGN weekend, Husqvarna Bicycles Scandinavia will offer test rides on select eMTBs, including the Mountain Cross 6. You’ll find more from their lineup at the expo!
