Positive Ruling from the Land and Environment Court of Appeals
Press Release September 24, 2024
The Land and Environment Court of Appeals does not grant leave to appeal. The decision of the Land and Environment Court stands. Pursuant to Chapter 5, Section 5 of the Land and Environment Courts Act (2010:921), this decision may not be appealed.
– Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event, says this was expected, and the fact that the court prioritized the case within nine days shows that the Gotland Grand National is important for Gotland, Sweden, and all of Europe. “We’ve been working very purposefully for 13 months, and now we’ve begun all the work on the venues in Hejdeby,” Conny Bohlin adds.
– It hasn’t been an easy journey, and we still have a ways to go before it becomes legally binding, but we have permission to hold the GGN 2.0 competition even before it becomes legally binding. We received confirmation of this from the county administrative board today. This decision pertains to the Environmental Code and demonstrates that we (Nordic Sport & Event) have done our homework over all these months, during which we’ve conducted all the necessary surveys, taken samples, and—not least—attended some 150 meetings throughout the year.
Nordic Sport & Event, as the organizer, is very pleased today that Sweden’s courts are taking this seriously and ensuring that GGN 2.0 can remain on Gotland in the future as well.
GGN 2.0 will take place October 24–26, 2024, on Gotland.
