History of the Gotland Grand National

The GGN was first held in 1984. In 2000, the number of registered participants exceeded 2,000 for the first time, and in 2016, it exceeded 3,000. The Gotland Grand National has long been regarded as the world’s largest enduro race. At that time, the course was approximately 22 km long, a single-lap race.  Today, there are classes for all ages and even for different motorcycle ages. Approximately 700 volunteers from many different sports clubs on Gotland work on the event. Starting in 2024, the entire organization moved to a new location and held GGN 2.0 in Hejdeby, on a brand-new 25.2-km course.
