I hope you all have a really great summer and that you stay active as much as you can and find time for your workouts.
It’s almost time for the 43rd edition of the Gotland Grand National—the third to be held at the new arena in Hejdeby.
Since the fall of 2025, our focus has been crystal clear—to make an already fantastic course even better. Together with SWECO, Sweden’s leading land and water consulting firm, we have analyzed and mapped the entire area and implemented extensive improvements in the areas that did not meet the standards during GGN 2025.
Today, I can say with great confidence that we are in a much stronger position heading into GGN 2026.
Let me show you what we've done
We're investing in the future
Over the past three years, Nordic Sport & Event has invested nearly 5 million kronor in the new GGN course in Hejdeby. In the summer of 2026, we will also invest an additional approximately 500,000 kronor to reinforce the parts of the course that proved too challenging in 2025. These are not temporary fixes—but rather long-term investments designed to make GGN even better for many years to come.
The Power Line Corridor & The Clear-Cut Area
These two areas are being completely rebuilt. Together with SWECO, we have mapped out water flows, elevation levels, and existing ditches to create a significantly improved water flow.
The work includes, among other things:
– restoration of approximately two kilometers of track with the correct grade along the power line corridor
– restoration of the entire clear-cut area behind the Bysarna speedway track
– nine newly constructed culverts with 50-centimeter culvert pipes
– long bridges constructed using large quantities of rock fill and finer material on top, spanning nine crossings (ditches)
– nearly two kilometers of existing ditches have been cleared, allowing the water to flow away naturally once again.
– We have also applied for alternative courses in case they are needed to ensure the competition runs as smoothly as possible.
When we built the course in Hejdeby, we created something completely new. After two years of experience (one dry and one very wet), we now know the area much better and have been able to further optimize the course.

When we made the decision to move the world’s largest enduro race from Tofta to Hejdeby, we knew it would require significant investment, hard work, and patience. Three years later, I can say that we have a venue that continues to evolve with each season. We’ve listened to your feedback, we’ve analyzed it, we’ve invested, and we’re continuing to develop GGN so that you’ll get the experience you expect from the world’s largest enduro race. GGN should be tough, GGN should be challenging, but above all, it should be a race you look forward to returning to every year.
