Record-high prize money of over 400,000 kronor

The Gotland Grand National is launching its biggest international initiative ever.

A record-high prize purse of over 400,000 kronor and an investment of 1.8 million kronor for 12 hours of live TV coverage—both nationally and internationally—are expected to attract the world’s top enduro riders to Gotland and GGN.

Following the move from the Tofta firing range and an investment of nearly 5 million over two years in the new course in Hejdeby on Gotland, it is now time to develop the sporting aspects of this historic event—which is being held for the 43rd consecutive year—with our focus on a major global initiative.

The world’s largest enduro race, the Gotland Grand National (GGN), is taking the next step in its international expansion. Ahead of 2026, the organizer, Nordic Sport & Event, is increasing the total prize purse to over 400,000 kronor, while the race will feature 12 hours of live TV coveragefor a national and international audience.

The biggest news by far is that the winners in both the women’s and men’s divisions will now each receive 100,000 kronor, marking the highest first-place prizes in the history of the Gotland Grand Nationals.

The TV production is also the most extensive ever undertaken for the competition. A total of 12 hours of live broadcasts will be produced over the two days of competition, an initiative in which Nordic Sport & Event is investing approximately 1.8 million kronor.

“We want to continue developing the Gotland Grand National into the world’s most attractive enduro race. By combining record-high prize money with an extensive international and national TV production, we’re creating better conditions to attract the world’s top riders while giving the sport significantly greater international exposure,”says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event.

The increased prize money is part of the organizer’s long-term strategy to strengthen the competition’s international standing and create an event where the world’s elite compete alongside a broad field of participants. At the same time, the next generation of riders will have the opportunity to experience the world stars up close. It goes without saying that the women will receive the same prize money as the men as part of our major effort to reach 300 women on the starting line.

“For us, it’s not just about attracting the best drivers to Gotland. We also want to inspire the next generation. When young drivers have finished their own races, they should be able to watch the world’s best compete for the win and dream of standing there themselves one day,”says Conny Bohlin.
