PRESS RELEASE August 10, 2026
TEN-TIME WORLD CHAMPION STEVE HOLCOMBE CONFIRMED FOR THE 2026 GOTLAND GRAND NATIONAL
The Gotland Grand National (GGN), the world’s largest enduro race, is proud to announce another major international name for the 2026 event. British enduro star Steve Holcombe, one of the most successful enduro riders of all time, is confirmed to compete in the Gotland Grand National 2026.
Holcombe is heading to Gotland after securing his tenth FIM Enduro World Championship title this weekend. With four EnduroGP World Championship titles—the most prestigious title in international enduro—and ten world titles in total, Holcombe is part of an elite group of riders who have firmly established their place in the history of the sport.
“It’s fantastic to welcome Steve Holcombe to the Gotland Grand National. He is one of the biggest names in international enduro and a rider who has inspired an entire generation,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event.
Holcombe rides for Sherco Factory Racing and has been one of the world’s most dominant enduro riders over the past decade. Renowned for his technical ability, consistency, and ability to perform at the very highest level, he has proven himself on all types of terrain and in all conditions.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to Gotland and the GGN. The last time I raced here, in 2023, I finished second. This time, I’m coming back to win,” says Steve Holcombe.
Holcombe will compete with the support of Sherco Sweden, which will provide him with all the technical and team support he needs to contend for the win.
“Steve will race under the Sherco Sweden banner and will have all the support and resources he needs to compete for the win,” adds Thomas Klarkner, Team Manager, Sherco Sweden.
Holcombe is the latest major name to join Nordic Sport & Event’s growing international lineup for this year’s Gotland Grand National. The organizer has previously announced international stars including Rachel Gutish of the United States, Jessica Gardiner of Australia, Shelby Turner of Canada, and Will Dennett of Australia.
“Our goal is for the Gotland Grand National to be the natural gathering place where the world’s elite compete alongside the broader enduro community. When the world’s best riders come to Gotland, they inspire the next generation. Young girls and boys get the chance to see world champions up close and dream of one day being there themselves,” says Conny Bohlin.
Nordic Sport & Event continues to significantly expand the event’s international reach. During race weekend, 12 hours of live television coverage will be produced and broadcast to both national and international audiences. At the same time, a record prize purse of more than SEK 400,000 will be awarded.
The investment is part of a long-term strategy to further strengthen the Gotland Grand National’s international standing and attract the world’s top enduro riders to Gotland.
