Decision: Adjusted Grace Period

The race management for GGN 2025 has made the following decision during the night.

Update 16:50: The grace period for the elite start has been adjusted to 90 minutes.

The grace period of 60 minutes has been adjusted to 90 minutes. The reason is that yesterday we were unable to gather the management team on short notice after the finish, as we had been working all night on various solutions in different locations. Once we were finally able during the night to start clearing our way along the power line corridor, we could sit down and make a joint decision to change the time to 90 minutes.

This applies to all recreational (non-competitive) starts on Friday, and the riding time for today’s recreational races on Saturday is also changed to 2 hours with a 90-minute grace period, in order to ensure equal conditions for everyone.

This means that yesterday’s result lists have been updated compared to those published yesterday.

Best regards,
Race Management

Notice from the Race Management
At 14:30, the race management decided to stop the race after several hours of riding time. The reason is the condition of the track and the safety situation. Paragraphs 5.8 & 5.8.1 of the Enduro Regulations apply.
Due to this, Saturday’s amateur race will also be shortened to 2 hours of riding time, while the elite start will have 3 hours of riding time. To qualify for the Swedish Enduro Classic, completing 1 lap is required in amateur.

For those whose motorcycles were recovered during Friday’s race, they will be taken care of and moved to the container area on site, which will be guarded during the night. You can collect your motorcycle by showing your start number; the area will remain open overnight for those traveling by ferry.
See the map for the exact location. To enter tomorrow, show your Friday pass and state that you are collecting your motorcycle to be granted access to the area.

Major Names from the USA, France, and Spain Confirmed for GGN 2025!

PRESS RELEASE OKTOBER 7, 2025

Major Names from the USA, France, and Spain Confirmed for GGN 2025!
The world’s largest enduro race – Gotland Grand National (GGN) – now in its 42nd consecutive year, is proud to announce several high-profile international participants joining the event on Gotland.
“From California, USA, we’re welcoming Josh Mosiman, a major name in the enduro world,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event, organizer of GGN. “Josh is a journalist for Motocross Action Magazine and travels the world testing and reviewing different competitions. He will be coming to Gotland with a camera crew, another rider, and his wife. The connection was made possible through our Norwegian contact, Gjermund Frostad.”
SWECON and electric motorcycle manufacturer Stark Future continue their collaboration around GGN, fielding a fully electric team to promote sustainable motorsport. The team, competing on the Stark Varg, features several well-known riders:
  • From France, none other than motocross legend and two-time world champion Sébastien Tortelli, a true icon of the sport.
  • Also from France, David Herbreteau will join the lineup.
  • Representing Spain, popular enduro influencer Daniel Sánchez will compete.
  • The team also includes Anna Palander, a professional stunt and motocross rider.
All four riders will compete on the electric Stark Varg, demonstrating that electric power can be both competitive and sustainable.
“Stark Varg, in partnership with SWECON, participated in 2024 with a different lineup. It will be exciting to see how this year’s team performs, now that they know the track, the format, and have further developed both the motorcycles and battery capacity,” adds Conny Bohlin.
“Our partnership last season was never meant to be a one-time project,” says Fredrik Rigö, Head of Marketing Communications at Swecon. “We continue to drive and develop the transition — not only in the construction industry but also in motorsport. Together with Stark Future, we’re showing how enduro can become more sustainable through electrification and smarter material choices, while also helping GGN reduce its climate footprint.”
Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro competition, with over 3,000 riders from around 15 nations participating annually. The 2025 edition will take place October 23–25 in Hejdeby, Gotland.

GGN RECEIVES PERMIT FOR 2025!

Press Release – June 19, 2025

IT’S OFFICIAL! GOTLAND GRAND NATIONAL RECEIVES PERMIT FOR 2025!
AFTER THE 2024 SUCCESS – POSITIVE NEWS FROM THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD OF GOTLAND!

It is now confirmed that the world’s largest enduro race, Gotland Grand National (GGN 2.0), will once again take place in Hejdeby, Gotland, in 2025.
The County Administrative Board has decided that the permit is valid immediately, even if appealed.

“This early decision from the County Board provides us, the organizers, with the peace of mind we need,” says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event. “The most important part of this decision is that the event is now 100% secured, even in the case of an appeal.”

The organizer, Nordic Sport & Event, has applied to Region Gotland for a permanent track in Hejdeby, which includes a building permit application. However, to ensure the race could go ahead in time for 2025, a temporary exemption from the Off-Road Driving Act was also submitted to the County Administrative Board, just as was done for the 2024 race.

“As organizers, we carry a great responsibility—for the sport, the spectators, TV viewers, partners, suppliers, and not least the Gotland business community, which generates over 100 million SEK annually thanks to this event,” says Conny Bohlin.

“Once the building permit is approved, Nordic Sport & Event will no longer need to apply for a temporary exemption from the County Board each year—the track will be permanently approved for the event.”

“We already have nearly 1,000 registered riders (with a goal of 3,200), and since registration opened in October 2024, we have worked strategically on two fronts: applying for the building permit and securing the temporary exemption, to ensure GGN 2.0 happens in 2025. Being able to now focus and work long-term to develop the event in the new Hejdeby location is absolutely critical,” adds Conny Bohlin.

“In 2024, the focus was on convincing authorities and the courts that we, as organizers, will take responsibility for both the race and the natural environment in the area, and that GGN 2.0 belongs on Gotland after 40 years at Tofta training grounds,” Conny Bohlin continues.

“Gotland needs GGN—and GGN needs Gotland.”
