PRESS RELEASE 2023-08-10

WORLD CHAMPION JANE DANIELS UK READY FOR GOTLAND GRAND NATIONAL!

With (3) three titles as World Champion in 2019, 2020, and 2022, now leading in 2023 with two rounds of the World Championship (FIM ENDUROGP) remaining, Jane Daniels is ready for this year’s Gotland Grand National. GGN this year has the world champion on the women’s side and the men’s side on the starting line. The earlier press release said that the seven (7) times world champion Steve Holcombe is ready for this year’s GGN.

The world’s largest enduro competition – the Gotland Grand National, which is running for the 40th year in a row – continues to invest in creating a solid starting field for the 40th anniversary.

Now a world star on the women’s side is also ready for this year’s GGN. Jane Daniels UK, factory rider for FANTIC, is coming to Gotland and GGN in October. Right now, she leads the WC series. Jane will compete against the strong Swedish ladies, says Conny Bohlin from the organizer Nordic Sport & Event, and mentions last year’s winner Tyra Bäckström, second Hanna Berzelius, and third Linnea Åkesson if they come to the start.

Jane Daniels says via our agent Gjermund Frostad that she looks forward to coming to Gotland and this year’s GGN. Jane herself says she is coming to win but is aware that the strong Swedish ladies know the GGN course and will have to ride hard in the first laps to keep up before she learns the GGN course.

We, who organize the world’s largest enduro competition, aim for GGN to establish itself even more worldwide. Then it is natural that we work to bring these world stars over to Gotland and GGN, says Conny Bohlin further. We have 350 children and young people on the starting line between the ages of 5 and 15, and it’s so fun that they can see their idols live on GGN.

The Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money for the best men and women, and for GGN 2023, the best woman and man will take home SEK 75,000 each. The second place receives SEK 35,000 and the third SEK 15,000 each.

Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro competition, with over 3000 starters from approx. Seventeen different nations every year. 2023 the competition will be held on 26 – 28 October at the Tofta shooting range on Gotland.
