Eero Remes, world champion in enduro to GGN to win
PRESS RELEASE 2022-06-28
Eero Remes, world champion in enduro 2015, 2016, and 2018 to Gotland and GGN to win!
The world’s largest enduro competition – running its 39th year in a row, is now investing in getting big names back outside Sweden. During the two pandemic years, GGN has been able to carry out against all odds but lost foreign participants and big names that came to win GGN.
– We have lost big names outside Sweden during the pandemic that could not or should not travel into Sweden and on to Gotland, says Conny Bohlin, CEO of Nordic Sport & Event. But now we look forward to bringing in strong names that spice up the top among the talented Swedish participants who are always at the top and have shown that they are hard to beat on the 22 km long track, Conny Bohlin continues.
– The former Finnish world champion in Enduro – Eero Remes is ready and will drive in 2022. He was most recently on Gotland and GGN 2019. It’s a strong name that comes to win GGN. From this year, we will see Eero Remes drive for Husqvarna Motorcycles.
– Eero Remes says he has never been so well ready as he will be for this year’s edition of Gotland Grand National. I will run several laps in Sweden before GGN to prepare as much as possible. I will win GGN 2022, concludes Eero Remes.
Gotland Grand National has also increased the prize money to the best men and women in GGN 2022; the best lady and man will take home SEK 50,000 each. The two receive SEK 25,000 and the three SEK 10,000 each. By 2023, the goal is SEK 75,000 for the winners, and by 2024 we hope for SEK 100,000. Then we will be able to present the absolute best in the world at GGN on both the women’s and men’s sides.
Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro competition, with over 3000 starters from about 17 nations yearly. In 2022, the competition will occur on October 28-29 at the Tofta shooting range on Gotland.
